| An alumni scholarship fund was established in 1985 to provide grant-in-aid
awards to financially needy students. The Department of Community
and Family Medicine and the Physician Assistant Division agreed
to supplement the fund from reserves until alumni gifts became sufficient
to generate interest revenue necessary to maintain and grow the
financial base of the fund. To date, over 160 students have received
scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per year. For the past
three years, the alumni scholarship committee has awarded 15 to
20 students in each class scholarships of $3,000 to $5,000.
In December 2004, we launched the second phase of the Stead Campaign to raise money
for the Alumni Scholarship Fund. We currently have 10% of alumni participating in this
campaign. Our goal is 50% participation, whether it's $5 or $5,000. The amount is not
nearly as meaningful as the act of participating. Please join other donors
by making your
pledge or contribution today. |
